Comment détruire ou éliminer un nid de guêpes ?
La solution la plus simple pour détruire un nid de guêpes ne nécessite que peu de matériel : un sac poubelle, une bombe insecticide et des vêtements couvrants et épais. Voici comment vous devez procéder pour réduire les risques de piqûres.
Quand est-ce déconseillé d’agir soi-même ?
Il y a deux cas bien distincts qui interdisent l’intervention privée. Cependant, même si ce ne sont pas des dispositions légales, elles doivent quand même être impérativement respectées. Il en va de votre santé !
En premier, si vous êtes allergiques aux venins des guêpes, frelons ou abeilles, retirer le nid soi-même est exclu quoi qu’il arrive. En effet, vous risquez d’être piqué à plusieurs reprises si vous faites une erreur, et le stress que vous allez ressentir vous rendra plus prône d’en faire. Ainsi, dans le pire des cas, vous pouvez faire un choc anaphylactique, ce qui veut dire que si vous n’êtes pas bien équipé, vous risquez la mort ! Il est donc plus sensé de ne pas prendre de risque inconsidéré et d’appeler un professionnel.
En second, si le nid est en hauteur ou difficile d’accès, il est également déconseillé de le retirer soi-même. En général, le seul moyen qu’on a est une échelle. Or, les chutes dues à la distraction causée par une piqûres sont nombreuses et finissent presque toujours à l’hôpital pour un bras cassé ou une jambe cassée.
Quand agir ?
Sachez qu’il y a des périodes dans l’année qui sont plus propice que d’autres. Ainsi, à la fin de l’été et pendant l’automne, intervenir soi-même est déconseillé. En cause, la présence des guêpes “princesses” que la colonie va défendre bec et ongle pour qu’elles survivent et qu’elles puissent créer de nouveaux nids une fois le printemps venu. De ce fait, la guêpe, qui est déjà agressive de base, l’est encore plus à cette période. On conseille donc de soit appeler un professionnel, soit attendre l’hiver pour que le gel tue tous les insectes ; vous n’aurez plus qu’à jeter le nid !
Si vous êtes hors de cette période, vous pouvez tenter l’expérience. Le meilleur moment sera la nuit car tous les membres (ou presque) de la colonie seront calme car en phase de sommeil. Une intervention la journée ne garantit en effet pas les meilleurs résultats car il y a constamment des guêpes en vadrouille, qui seront très en colère si elles ne trouvent pas leurs nids en rentrant ! Ainsi, pour aller plus loin, les nuits de pleine lune, donc lumineuses, sont recommandées car un apport de lumière excitera les insectes et compliquera votre tâche.
Comment se préparer ?
D’abord, il faut revêtir un accoutrement adapté. On conseille de porter des tissus épais pour que le dard ne puisse pas passer au travers. Ainsi, gants, bottes en caoutchouc, sweat-shirts avec capuches relevées sont ce qui vous protègera le mieux. Pour votre figure, un masque de ski et un foulard ou une écharpe peuvent vous aider. Une fois habillé, nous vous conseillons de vérifier qu’aucun interstice ne soit présent pour qu’aucune guêpes ne puisse s’y introduire ; nous rappelons aussi qu’une seule guêpe peut piquer plusieurs fois !
Ensuite, avant de vous attaquer au nid en lui-même, veillez à avoir le passage dégagé, ainsi qu’à avoir tout votre matériel à portée de main : sac poubelle et insecticides sont ce dont vous aurez besoin.
Comment agir ?
Le maître mot de cette opération est la délicatesse. Quoi qu’il arrive, ne faites pas de gestes brusques ! Approchez-vous doucement du nid, armé de votre bombe à insecticide pleine et de votre sac poubelle. Pulvérisez l’entrée du nid pendant au moins 15 secondes. En faisant le moins de bruit possible, ouvrez votre sac poubelle et couvrez lentement le nid. Détachez le nid et fermez le sac hermétiquement. Placez ce sac dans une poubelle extérieure, qui, de préférence, se trouve loin de la maison et de ses probables entrées.
Pour rendre cette procédure plus facile, pour pouvez être deux : une personne s’occupe de la bombe, et l’autre du sac poubelle.
